Curiodex Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2026-10-24
Curiodex ("the app") is a free daily facts app provided by DDJ B1 ("we", "us"). It shows five new true facts a day as cards, each with a short explanation and its source, plus topic collections, search, saved facts, a history of facts you have read and a home screen widget. It has no account system, no login, no subscription and no server operated by us. All facts are bundled with the app, so reading works offline.
Your reading data
The facts you have read, your saved facts, your chosen topics, your daily streak and your settings are stored locally on your device.
- The app itself does not upload your reading history or saved facts, and we never receive them.
- The advertising SDK described below may collect information as explained in that section. Your reading history and saved facts are not passed to the advertising SDK.
- If you share a fact, the fact text and card image go only to the app you choose through Android's share sheet.
- If you use "Report this fact", your email app opens with the fact's ID and text; nothing is sent unless you send that email yourself, and we only use it to review the fact.
- Android's standard app backup may include app data in your own Google account backup if you have device backup enabled; that backup is controlled by you and Google, not by us.
Permissions
- Notifications — today's first fact in the morning and an evening reminder when cards are left. You can decline or turn them off in Settings; the app keeps working.
- Run at startup — to restore these reminders after the phone restarts.
- Vibration — for reminders, if you turn it on.
- Internet / network state / advertising ID — used by the advertising SDK described below.
Curiodex does not request location, contacts, camera, microphone, phone/call access, SMS, calendar, photo library or storage permissions, or permission to draw over other apps.
Advertising and information collected automatically
The app displays advertisements provided by Google AdMob inside the app only (never in notifications or in the widget). Ads are limited to content rated for general audiences. To serve and measure ads and to prevent fraud, the AdMob SDK may collect and share with Google information such as your device's advertising identifier and other device identifiers, approximate location derived from your IP address, app interactions (for example ad views and taps), crash logs and diagnostics. This data is shared with Google as a third party for advertising, analytics and fraud prevention purposes. For more information see https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom and other regions where required, the app presents a consent form via Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) before personalized advertising data is used; if you decline, non-personalized ads are shown. You can change your choice from the app's Settings screen ("Ad privacy settings") and reset or limit ad personalization in your device settings.
Content
All facts, explanations and app text are written for Curiodex. Each fact names the reference organization it is based on (for example NASA, Britannica or the Smithsonian); those organizations are not affiliated with the app. Facts are general knowledge for curiosity and are not medical, legal or financial advice.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your rights
Your reading data exists only on your device and in backups you control; uninstalling the app removes the app's own copies, and tapping the heart again removes a saved fact. Depending on your region (e.g. GDPR, CCPA), you may have rights regarding data processed by the advertising SDK; you can exercise ad-related choices through the consent form and your device's ad settings.
