A push up counter that works without the proximity sensor

Short answer: count by set, not by rep. Do your set, then tap once to add the reps you planned. No sensor, no camera, no touching the screen with your nose — so nothing to fail on your phone.

Why sensor counters miss reps

Most push up counters use the proximity sensor near the top of the screen: your face or chest covers it and that counts one rep. But the sensor sits in a different spot on every phone, and some newer phones barely use it. That is why reviews say things like "the proximity sensor doesn't work", "you have to tap with your nose", or "I did 10 and it counted 3".

Count by tapping instead

  1. In Ferrovo, make an exercise such as Push-ups ×10 (one tap = 10 reps).
  2. Start a workout and do your set.
  3. Tap the big tile once. +10, and a rest stopwatch starts.
  4. Tap NEXT SET when ready. Tapped by mistake? Undo last.

FAQ

Why does my push up counter miss reps?

Sensor counters rely on the proximity sensor, which sits in a different place and reacts differently on every phone. On some phones it does not trigger at all, or only counts some reps.

Does Ferrovo use the proximity sensor or camera?

No. You tap a big tile after the set and it adds the number of reps you set for that exercise.

What if I did a different number of reps?

Each exercise has its own reps per tap, so set it to what you usually do. Tapped by mistake? Use Undo last.
