Glimword Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2026-10-07
Glimword ("the app") is an English vocabulary app provided by DDJ B1 ("we", "us"). It shows word cards in the app, in an optional "word of the day" notification that can appear on your lock screen, and in a home-screen widget, with quick quizzes and a review list. Glimword has no account system, no login and no server operated by us.
Information stored on your device
Your chosen word lists, learning progress, quiz results, review list, words you add yourself, reminder settings and app settings are stored locally on your device. The app itself does not send this information to us, and we have no server to receive it. We do not ask for your name, age, phone number or email address.
Uninstalling the app deletes this information. Android's standard app backup may include app data in your own Google account backup if you have device backup enabled; that backup is controlled by you and Google, not by us.
Pronunciation
Word pronunciation uses the text-to-speech engine installed on your device. Depending on the engine and its settings, the engine provider may process the text; the app does not send it to us.
Sharing result cards
If you tap Share on a quiz result, the app creates an image card on your device and hands it to the app you choose through Android's share sheet. The app does not upload the image anywhere by itself.
Permissions
- Notifications — optional word-of-the-day cards and study reminders. The app asks for this permission once at the end of setup; you can decline, and you can turn lock-screen cards and reminders off at any time in Settings, free of charge.
- Run at startup — to restore scheduled reminders after the phone restarts.
- Internet / network state — used by the advertising SDK described below.
Glimword does not request location, camera, microphone, contacts, storage, phone access or permission to display over other apps, and it does not replace or cover your lock screen.
Advertising and information collected automatically
The app displays advertisements provided by Google AdMob inside the app only (never on the lock screen, in notifications or in the widget). To serve and measure ads and to prevent fraud, the AdMob SDK may collect and share with Google information such as your device's advertising identifier and other device identifiers, approximate location derived from your IP address, app interactions (for example ad views and taps), crash logs and diagnostics. This data is shared with Google as a third party for advertising, analytics and fraud prevention purposes. For more information see https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom and other regions where required, the app presents a consent form via Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) before personalized advertising data is used; if you decline, non-personalized ads are shown. You can change your choice from the app's Settings screen ("Ad privacy settings") and reset or limit ad personalization in your device settings.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your rights
Your word lists, progress and settings exist only on your device, so you can edit, reset or delete them in the app at any time, and uninstalling the app removes them. Depending on your region (e.g. GDPR, CCPA), you may have rights regarding data processed by the advertising SDK; you can exercise ad-related choices through the consent form and your device's ad settings.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
