Stoaly Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2026-10-23
Stoaly ("the app") is a free daily philosophy app provided by DDJ B1 ("we", "us"). It shows one sourced quote and one short idea a day, lets you browse thinkers, ideas and quotes, and keeps a private morning and evening reflection journal. It has no account system, no login, no subscription and no server operated by us. The quotes and articles are bundled with the app, so it works offline.
Your journal and saved quotes
Your journal entries, saved quotes, reading preference (for example "Stoic quotes only") and settings are stored locally on your device.
- The app itself does not upload your journal entries or saved quotes, and we never receive them.
- The advertising SDK described below may collect information as explained in that section. Your journal text and saved quotes are not passed to the advertising SDK.
- If you share a quote, the text and quote image go only to the app you choose through Android's share sheet.
- Android's standard app backup may include app data in your own Google account backup if you have device backup enabled; that backup is controlled by you and Google, not by us.
Permissions
- Notifications — today's quote in the morning and a reflection question in the evening. You can decline or turn them off in Settings; the app keeps working.
- Run at startup — to restore these reminders after the phone restarts.
- Vibration — for reminders, if you turn it on.
- Internet / network state / advertising ID — used by the advertising SDK described below.
Stoaly does not request location, contacts, camera, microphone, phone/call access, SMS, calendar, photo library or storage permissions, or permission to draw over other apps.
Advertising and information collected automatically
The app displays advertisements provided by Google AdMob inside the app only (never in notifications or in the widget). Ads are limited to content rated for general audiences. To serve and measure ads and to prevent fraud, the AdMob SDK may collect and share with Google information such as your device's advertising identifier and other device identifiers, approximate location derived from your IP address, app interactions (for example ad views and taps), crash logs and diagnostics. This data is shared with Google as a third party for advertising, analytics and fraud prevention purposes. For more information see https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom and other regions where required, the app presents a consent form via Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) before personalized advertising data is used; if you decline, non-personalized ads are shown. You can change your choice from the app's Settings screen ("Ad privacy settings") and reset or limit ad personalization in your device settings.
Content sources
Quotes are taken word for word from public-domain translations and original texts, and each quote shows its work and translator. Translations into other languages and all explanatory articles are written by Stoaly.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your rights
Your journal and saved quotes exist only on your device and in backups you control; uninstalling the app removes the app's own copies, and clearing an entry's text and saving deletes that entry. Depending on your region (e.g. GDPR, CCPA), you may have rights regarding data processed by the advertising SDK; you can exercise ad-related choices through the consent form and your device's ad settings.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
