A 3-minute daily times tables practice routine

Short answer: once a day, spend 3 minutes on mixed questions from the tables you miss most, then retry only the ones you got wrong. Keep it at the same time every day, and move on to the 1–12 or 1–20 tables when the 1–9 tables are fast and accurate.

The routine

  1. Minute 0–2: mixed questions from your weakest tables.
  2. Minute 2–3: retry the facts you just missed.
  3. After: glance at your accuracy and average seconds per question.

Choosing what to practice

Start with the 1–9 tables. If one table is below the others, give it most of the questions. Add division once multiplication is solid; it uses the same facts.

Going to 12s and 19s/20s

When you answer the 1–9 tables at about 90% accuracy in under 3 seconds, add the 1–12 tables, and later 1–20 if you want stronger mental math. The 11–19 tables build on the same facts: 17×6 is 10×6 + 7×6.

Making it stick

Pick a fixed moment, like after breakfast or a coffee break, set a small daily goal and keep a streak.

Doing it with Timesy

Tap "Start 3-minute practice" on the home screen or widget. Timesy puts your weak tables first, shows score, average seconds and missed facts after the round, and offers "Retry missed". Set your daily goal and optional 8:00 AM and 7:30 PM reminders; the widget shows your streak.

FAQ

Is 3 minutes a day really enough?

For keeping facts fresh and getting faster, yes. Daily short recall beats occasional long sessions. Add a second round if you want.

When should I move to the 1–12 or 1–20 tables?

When the 1–9 tables are above about 90% accuracy and most answers come in under 3 seconds.

How do I keep the habit going?

Set a small daily goal, practice at the same time each day and watch your streak.
