Wordawn Privacy Policy

Wordawn ("the app") is a free daily word-guessing game provided by DDJ B1 ("we", "us"). Each day it offers four puzzles (4, 5, 6 and 7-letter words), unlimited practice puzzles, a free archive of past days, statistics and friend challenges by code. It has no account system, no login, no subscription and no server operated by us. The word lists and meanings are bundled with the app, so the game works offline.

Your game progress

Your guesses, results, streaks, statistics and settings are stored locally on your device.

• The app itself does not upload your game progress, and we never receive it.
• The advertising SDK described below may collect information as explained in that section. Your guesses and results are not passed to the advertising SDK.
• Friend challenges work without a server: the app turns a word into a short code. If you share a code or a result, the text goes only to the app you choose through Android's share sheet.
• Android's standard app backup may include app data in your own Google account backup if you have device backup enabled; that backup is controlled by you and Google, not by us.

Permissions

• Notifications — a morning reminder when the new words are ready and a short evening reminder. You can decline or turn them off in Settings; the game keeps working.
• Run at startup — to restore these reminders after the phone restarts.
• Vibration — for reminders and small game effects, if enabled.
• Internet / network state / advertising ID — used by the advertising SDK described below.

Wordawn does not request location, contacts, camera, microphone, phone/call access, SMS, calendar, photo library or storage permissions, or permission to draw over other apps.

Advertising and information collected automatically

The app displays advertisements provided by Google AdMob inside the app only (never in notifications or in the widget). Ads are limited to content rated for general audiences. To serve and measure ads and to prevent fraud, the AdMob SDK may collect and share with Google information such as your device's advertising identifier and other device identifiers, approximate location derived from your IP address, app interactions (for example ad views and taps), crash logs and diagnostics. This data is shared with Google as a third party for advertising, analytics and fraud prevention purposes. For more information see https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom and other regions where required, the app presents a consent form via Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) before personalized advertising data is used; if you decline, non-personalized ads are shown. You can change your choice from the app's Settings screen ("Ad privacy settings") and reset or limit ad personalization in your device settings.

Word lists

Allowed guesses come from the public-domain ENABLE word list. Answers and short meanings come from WordNet 3.0 (© Princeton University), used under its license.

Children

The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your rights

Your game progress exists only on your device and in backups you control; uninstalling the app removes the app's own copy. Depending on your region (e.g. GDPR, CCPA), you may have rights regarding data processed by the advertising SDK; you can exercise ad-related choices through the consent form and your device's ad settings.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
