Photo booth app camera black screen? How to fix it

Short answer: A black camera screen usually means the camera permission is off, another app is holding the camera, or the app failed to start the camera. Check the permission in Settings, close other camera apps, then reopen the booth app.

1. Check the permission

Settings > Apps > the app > Permissions > Camera > Allow only while using the app. If the app keeps asking even after you allowed it, turn it off and on again.

2. Close other camera apps

Video calls, a QR scanner or another camera app can hold the camera. Close them and try again.

3. Restart the app

Swipe the app away from recent apps and reopen it.

4. Switch front and back

If one camera fails, try the other.

5. Use album photos

If the camera still won't start, make the strip from album photos instead.
