When should you start studying for finals?
Short answer: about two to three weeks before for most subjects, earlier for heavy ones. The exact day matters less than turning the syllabus into a daily amount you can actually finish.
A countdown plan
- D-21: list every exam and its topics. Count topics per exam.
- D-21 to D-8: cover new material. Topics left ÷ days left = today's amount.
- D-7 to D-2: practice questions and past papers. Go back to weak topics.
- D-1: review only. Sleep.
- Exam day: a quick look at your summary sheet, then go.
Several exams in one week
Put every exam on one list sorted by date. Each day, do the pace for the nearest exam first, then a smaller slice of the next one.
Examtock keeps all your exams in one list with days left and today's amount for each, and reminds you at D-7, D-3, D-1 and on the morning of the exam.
FAQ
Is two weeks enough?
For one or two exams, usually yes. With four or more exams in the same week, start each subject's topics around D-21 and run them in parallel.
How long should each study session be?
25–50 minutes, then a short break. Log the time so you can see where your week went.
What should I do on the last day?
Review only: summary notes, mistakes from practice tests, and an early night.
