How to turn a spreadsheet or CSV into flashcards on Android
Short answer: Put the front in column A and the back in column B, copy both columns, and paste them into a flashcard app that accepts tab-separated text. Or save the sheet as CSV and import the file.
1. Lay out the sheet
One card per row. Column A is the question or word, column B is the answer or meaning. No header row needed.
2. Copy and paste (fastest)
Select both columns and copy. Spreadsheet apps copy cells separated by tabs, so each row pastes as one card.
3. Or save as CSV
In Google Sheets choose File → Download → CSV; in Excel choose Save as → CSV UTF-8. UTF-8 keeps accents, Korean, Japanese and Arabic text intact.
4. Commas inside a card
If an answer contains a comma, CSV wraps it in quotes ("red, blue"). A good importer reads that correctly. Copy-paste with tabs avoids the issue entirely.
5. Check the preview
Before adding, look at the first few rows of the preview. If front and back are swapped, swap the columns in the sheet and paste again.
Taking cards out again
Exporting a deck as CSV lets you edit it on a computer or share the list with a classmate.
