How to Free Up Storage by Cleaning Photos on Android

Short answer: photos and videos are usually the largest part of a full phone. Clean them in small batches, trash what you don't need, then empty your gallery trash to get the space back.

Start where the space is

Videos are big: start with the Videos range. Then sort messaging folders such as WhatsApp, where forwarded photos pile up.

Sort 50 at a time

In Padsort pick a range, press left for trash and right for keep. At the end of the batch you see how much storage the trashed items free.

Get the space back

After applying, items sit in the gallery trash for about 30 days. Empty the trash in your gallery app when you are sure, to free the storage immediately.

FAQ

Which photos take the most space?

Videos, then burst and high-resolution photos. Messaging folders also collect many duplicates.

Will my favorites be safe?

Press up to favorite them; they stay in your gallery and are marked as favorites.

Does Padsort upload anything to free space?

No. It never uploads; it only moves items to your phone's trash.
