How to Scan and Share a Wi-Fi QR Code on Android
Short answer: to join, open the camera or Google Lens and point it at the Wi-Fi QR, then tap the join prompt. To share, go to Settings, Network & internet, Internet, tap the gear next to your network and choose Share; Android shows a QR code.
Scan a Wi-Fi QR
Most Android phones read QR codes in the default camera. If yours does not, use Google Lens or the QR scanner in Quick Settings. Wi-Fi settings also has a QR icon next to Add network on many phones.
Share your Wi-Fi as a QR
In Wi-Fi settings, open your connected network and tap Share. After confirming your screen lock, Android shows a QR code and often the password in text for people whose phones cannot scan.
No QR, just a printed sign?
Many cafés, restaurants and guesthouses only print the network name and password. Then you need to read it as text, which is where typing errors start.
Doing it with Signfi
Signfi reads both printed Wi-Fi QR codes and text signs in the same camera view, works from gallery photos too, and keeps the networks you save in an encrypted history so you can show or copy them later.
FAQ
Why won't my camera read the Wi-Fi QR?
Clean the lens, move closer and keep the code flat and lit. Glossy laminated signs reflect light, so tilt slightly.
Can I scan a QR from a screenshot?
Yes. Google Lens and Signfi can read a Wi-Fi QR or sign from a photo in your gallery.
Is the QR code safe?
A Wi-Fi QR only contains the network name, security type and password. Check the network name before joining.
