How to move your notes to a new phone without losing them

Short answer: before you reset or trade in the old phone, export your notes to a backup file, put that file somewhere the new phone can reach, and import it in the same app on the new phone. Then open a few notes to check.

1. Find out where your notes live

Notes apps that need no account usually keep notes only on the phone. That is good for privacy, but it means nothing moves unless you move it.

2. Export a backup file

Look for Export or Backup in the app’s settings. Save the file and note its name.

3. Move the file

Upload it to Google Drive, email it to yourself or copy it over USB.

4. Import on the new phone

Install the same app, open settings, choose Import and pick the file. Check that checklists, colors and reminders came back before you wipe the old phone.

5. Make it a habit

Export again every few weeks. A backup is only as fresh as the last time you made one.

Doing it with Tickcard

Tickcard keeps notes on your phone with no account. Exporting a backup from Settings saves your cards and checklists to one file; importing it on the new phone brings them back.

FAQ

Do notes transfer automatically to a new phone?

Not always. Notes stored only on the phone may not come over with a device transfer. Export a backup file to be sure.

Where should I keep the backup file?

Anywhere you can reach from the new phone: Google Drive, an email to yourself, or a USB cable copy.

How do I back up notes in Tickcard?

Export a backup file from Settings. On the new phone, install Tickcard and import that file from Settings.
