One compartment, one tap

Tap a box and everything in it is marked as taken. Undo in one tap. Long-press to check pills one at a time, skip one, or fix a past day.

One reminder per time slot

Pills due at the same time share one notification, like "Evening box - 3 pills", with Take all and Snooze 10 min buttons.

A gentle follow-up

If a box is still closed, you get one follow-up reminder 30 minutes later.

Reminders that keep their time

Exact alarms, re-scheduled after a restart or time zone change, plus a guide to battery optimization settings.

Pills left and refill warning

Each medicine shows how many pills are left and about how many days that lasts, and warns you before it runs out.

As-needed medicine

Log an as-needed pill with one tap and see when you last took it.

Monthly heatmap, rate and streak

See which days were complete, your 7-day rate and your streak. Share a plain-text medicine list with family or your doctor.

Today's boxes widget

Today's compartments on your home screen. Tap the next box to mark it as taken without opening the app.

FAQ

I get 3 notifications at the same time. Why?
Most reminder apps send one notification per medicine. Pilltray groups pills due at the same time into one notification for that compartment, and you can mark them all taken from it.
Do I have to mark each medication off individually?
No. Tap the compartment and every pill in it is marked as taken. Long-press if you want to check, skip or fix single pills.
My pill reminder doesn't go off. What can I do?
Pilltray uses exact alarms and re-schedules them after a restart. If your phone's battery optimization still delays them, the app's settings show how to exclude Pilltray. See the guide below.
It keeps notifying me after I've already taken my pills.
Once a compartment is marked as taken, its follow-up reminder is cancelled. The follow-up only comes if the box is still closed 30 minutes later.
I missed a few days. Can I record them in the log?
Yes. Long-press a compartment on a past day to fix it, and the monthly heatmap updates.
Can I log medicine without a reminder?
Yes. Add it as an as-needed medicine and log it with one tap when you take it.
I take a medication every 3 hours. Does it support that?
There is no every-N-hours mode. Pilltray works with daily time slots (morning, noon, evening, bedtime) whose times you can edit.
Do I need an account? How is it supported?
No account or sign-up; your data stays on your phone. The app is free and supported by ads.
